Oregon Sea Grant

I manage or managed projects that include newsletters, exhibits, marketing materials and videos.

Promotional banners

I oversaw the production of these 7-foot, retractable banners, which promote Oregon Sea Grant's three programmatic areas. I contracted University Relations and Marketing to create them. I created the concept for the design, obtained photos, wrote the text, provided feedback to the designer, and submitted drafts to OSG leadership for review. The banners have since been displayed at OSU's Sea Grant Festival kickoff, the Hatfield Marine Science Center, the FisherPoets Gathering in Astoria, and an Ocean Sciences Meeting in Portland. The design won a gold award from the Hermes Creative Awards in 2018 in the category for printed marketing materials.

Video production

I oversaw the production of three videos that were filmed and edited by an intern I mentored. I interviewed the researchers, wrote the scripts, and provided art direction and editing guidance. Parts of the video on microplastics in shellfish (click on photo to view it) aired on KATU and KPTV. The video was also posted on the Oregon Coast Aquarium's Facebook page where it has been viewed about 12,000 times. It has been viewed on Oregon Sea Grant's Facebook page nearly 9,000 times. It and another of the videos won awards of distinction from the Communicator Awards in the category of online science videos.
